Report on the Chennai Chapter’s Silver Jubilee Convention “CCQCC 2016”
QCFI Chennai Chapter’s Silver Jubilee Convention “CCQCC 2016” was held on 10th & 11th of September 2016 at Anand Institute of Higher Technology, Kazhipattur, Chennai 603103. The convention was coordinated by M/s Dalmia Cement, Dalmiapuram. Mr.Anbuchezhian, Process Excellence Manager – 6 Sigma, CPS & Lean at Caterpillar Inc was the chief guest. The college Chairman Mr.K.Sridharan, the Secretary Dr.S. Arivazhagi, the CEO Mr.Sashi Anand Sridharan and the college principal Dr Nalini Joseph were Present in the inaugural function. Welcome address was given by Mr.Major(retd) V.V Chandrasekharan, Vice Chairman QCFI CC. The Overview of the CCQCC 2016 was given by Mr.AL.Nachiappan, Organizing Secretary of the convention and the Senior General Manager of M/s Dalmia cement, Dalmiapuram.
All the senior members of QCFI CC those who completed of 25 years were honored with shawl and memento by Mr.T.R.Narasimhan, Chairman of QCFI Chennai Chapter. Then Joint Secretary & the Convention Coordinator Mr.S.Murugan briefed about the 5S Competition Award and announced the winning companies. Totally 16 companies participated in the 5S competition out of which 14 companies won the 5S Par excellence award and the other 2 companies won the 5S excellent award. The Silver Jubilee souvenir was released by chairman, QCFI CC and the first copy was received by Dr.K.S.Babai, Director QCFI. The chief guest of inaugural session delivered the inaugural speech. The vote of thanks given by Mr.S.Sundaram, Treasurer, QCFI Chennai Chapter. Then case study presentations started in 9 halls from 11.15am on wards. In the afternoon, events like poem, slogan, poster, preliminary quiz etc. were conducted. The first day proceedings were completed around 6.00pm.
In the second day, the balance case study (both pre-evaluation and presentation) evaluations were started at 9.00 am and completed around 1.00pm. Quiz – Final was conducted by Mr.Thiagarjan of M/s WABCO India. Totally 6 teams participated in the final quiz and finally 3 teams were declared as winners for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes. There was a cultural program for 30 minutes between 2.45pm and 3.30pm.
Valedictory function started at 3.30 pm with the welcome address by Mr.A.Mayuranathan, Past Chairman of QCFI CC. Brief Report of the CCQCC 2016 was given by the organizing Secretary Mr.AL.Nachiappan Sr GM ,M/s Dalmia Cement, Dalmiapuram. Three participants from three different organizations gave excellent feedback about the convention. The chief guest for the valedictory function was Mr.R.A.KrishnaKumar, Executive Director, M/s Dalmia Cement, Dalmiapuram. Mr.S.Kumaradevan, Chief Operating Office of M/s L & T Valves was given the “outstanding contribution award for this year. Mr.S.Kumardevan gave the acceptance speech for the outstanding contribution award. Presidential address was given by the chairman QCFI Chennai chapter. The Executive Director, QCFI HQ Mr.D.K.Srivatsava delivered the silver jubilee address and made announcement about this year NCQC & ICQC venues along with terms and conditions .The chief guest addressed the gathering with an elegant speech on the emerging trend of increased focus on improving skills of employees. The juries’ feedback was given by Mr.Somanathan, Director, QCFI.
130 teams won the Gold awards, 90 teams won the silver awards and 4 teams won the Bronze awards. Totally 226 QC teams from 84 organizations and 119 delegates participated in the Convention. Prof.C.Uthayakumar, Secretary QCFI Chennai Chapter proposed vote of thanks. Finally the function came to an end with National Anthem.
