3rd Mini Convention (Rainbow)-2025 was organised on 05.04.2025 at VIT Chennai Campus, Kelambakkam Vandalur Road, Chennai-600127 with the theme of ‘Practicing QC and Allied Concepts is a Gateway for Manufacturing Excellence’. Dr. T. Kalaiselvan, Secretary, QCFICC was the Organizing Secretary for this Convention.
The inaugural session commenced at 8.55am with Tamil Thai Vazhthu followed by the traditional lighting of lamp by QCFICC GC members along with two Quality Circle members from industries.





Mr. V.Thiagarajan acted as Master of Ceremony and Mr. S. Murugan, Vice Chairman, QCFICC delivered the welcome address. Dr. T. Kalaiselvan presided over the inaugural function and delivered the inaugural address. In his address, he reported that there are 206 teams from 36 organizations that have registered. He highlighted that this strength has surpassed the previous records and assured to furnish the exact outcome during the valedictory function scheduled in the evening. He also proudly mentioned that QCFICC in every convention, creates a record on participation strength, breaks it and again creates a new record. QCFICC with the patronage of member organisations conducts tailor made training programmes/conventions for their benefit. Dr. T. Kalaiselvan also introduced Jury members to the gathering.
Mr. S. Suresh, Editorial Board Member, QCFICC delivered the vote of thanks. Thereafter, case study presentations (QCC, Kaizen, 5-S, Six Sigma, Poka-yoke, SMED and SIT) in 10 parallel halls were evaluated. GC members and life members of QCFICC acted as Juries and evaluated the case studies.
In the evening, the valedictory session started at 4.45 pm. Mr. V.Venkadesh, Vice Chairman, QCFICC delivered the welcome address. Mr. A. Mayuranathan, Chairman, QCFICC presided over the valedictory function and made a presidential address. He appreciated the entire team and specially Mr.S.Ramachandran, Manager, QCFICC for meticulous planning, successful execution and record strength of participation. Organising Secretary, Dr. T. Kalaiselvan reported that 203 teams have participated with 600 total participants from 38 organizations. Four participants gave their positive feedback. One member pointed out that he could not study college; however he has entered a prestigious educational institution like VIT Chennai Campus due to attending this convention. He thanked and appreciated the services of QCFICC. Another senior QC member conveyed that he has witnessed many conventions organised by QCFICC and there are a lot of positive transformations happening to individual QC members as well as organising style of QCFICC. Another woman QC member brought out that she gathered many novel techniques/ideas and assured to implement them in her workplace. It was interesting to note that many financial organizations participated in this convention.
Jury feedback was given by Mr. T.R. Narasimhan, GC member, QCFICC. He was happy to point out that many presentations on modern digitalization techniques like IIoT, MEMS, online monitoring with latest QC tools and techniques by QC teams. Crores of rupees saved due to QC implementations also increase the nation’s savings. He advised QC teams good is not enough and keep on moving towards benchmarking.
Dr. T. Thyagarajan, Pro-Chancellor of VIT Chennai, was the chief guest for the valedictory session. Mr. S. Sundaram, Treasurer, QCFICC, introduced the Chief Guest by presenting his short profile to the gathering. The Chief Guest in his address appreciated QCFICC for grooming the QC members skill towards achieving excellence. He further informed that VIT Chennai is ready to impart education and training to the industry workforce with modern equipment and systems. He appealed to the organizations to make use of new patents developed by VIT for industrial applications.
Then, Dr. T. Kalaiselvan announced ‘Outstanding Contribution Award’ to M/s. Ashok Leyland Ltd. for the highest nomination of 48 teams and Chief Guest presented the memento to the Coordinator from M/s. Ashok Leyland Ltd. and teams. Mr. V.Thiagarajan, GC proposed vote of thanks. Thereafter, the results were announced by Mr. V.Venkadesh and S. Sundaram. The Chief Guest and Chairman distributed the prizes and participation certificates to the teams. The function concluded with the national anthem at 6.15pm.
